A graduate of the University of Alberta, Karen was awarded a Certificate
of Recognition by the Ontario Physiotherapy Association for her outstanding
contribution. She holds an Independent Practice Certificate from the
College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Karen's philosophy is to stay
active and take control over your own physical well being. History of Body Basics for life As a mother, she noticed her own and other children carrying boulder heavy backpacks and spending an increasing amount of time sitting at the computer or watching television. Without proper guidance, these future generations will face physical problems and pain at a much younger age. And, with the large aging population only beginning to challenge health care systems, resources will continue to be limited and people will have to take more responsibility for themselves. Recognizing a need to be filled, Karen directed her energy to education. Her first book entitled BODY BASICS for life, Simple steps to a healthy pain-free you! was published in March 1998. What was originally written for the general public turned out to be of keen interest to the corporate sector. Companies buy the book in volume distributing it to employees as part of their wellness programs. This prompted the development of a training package to complement the book and the introduction of a line of healthy products. Through promotional appearances and speaking engagements Karen received numerous requests for additional topics to be covered in the same easy-to-read format, which prompted the line of BODY BASICS books. |
